Gianni Ferrari: Italian excellence in professional grounds-care machinery
Gianni Ferrari is an Italian benchmark in professional grounds-care machinery. A story that began in 1952, built on innovation, build quality and solutions designed to deliver top performance for professionals.

When it comes to professional grounds-care machinery, Gianni Ferrari is one of the historic names of Italian engineering. A brand born of ingenuity, passion and a talent for innovation, which over more than seventy years has developed solutions for people who work every day in professional gardening, the upkeep of public spaces and the care of large green areas.

The story of Gianni Ferrari is above all an Italian story, deeply rooted in one of the most important engineering regions in the country.

An Italian story that began in 1952

The brand’s origins go back to 1952, when Gianni Ferrari and his father Fernando began patenting machines and components for irrigation. Among the first innovations was the famous “Ferrari joint”, a ball joint that became known well beyond Italy. In 1957 came the first two-wheel tractor designed by Gianni Ferrari, marking the company’s entry into agricultural machinery.

Between the 1960s and the 1980s the business grew further with two-wheel tractors, motor mowers, transporters and tractors, building strong expertise in designing robust, versatile machines suited to professional work.

A major step came in 1989, when Gianni Ferrari S.r.l. was founded in Reggiolo to build professional mowers. As early as 1990 the company produced the Turbograss, which it describes as the first European zero-turn mower. Innovative solutions kept coming in the following years, up to the launch in 1997 of the famous Turbo 4, one of the iconic models in Gianni Ferrari’s history.

A Made in Italy tradition looking to the future

The bond with Italy continues today. The factory is in Reggiolo, in the province of Reggio Emilia, at the heart of a district internationally known for its expertise in mechanical engineering and hydraulics. Production, research, development and quality control are central to the brand’s philosophy.

In 2022 Gianni Ferrari became part of the Kubota group, following its acquisition by Kubota Holdings Europe. This gave rise to Kubota Gianni Ferrari, a partnership that lets the historic Italian brand add new resources and an even stronger international presence to its own experience.

This evolution has not changed the brand’s identity: in 2024 production integration at the Reggiolo plant was completed, confirming that its industrial activity remains firmly rooted in Italy.

Machines built for professionals

What sets Gianni Ferrari apart above all is its professional focus.

These are not simply grass-cutting machines, but vehicles designed for intensive use and many different kinds of work. The range includes professional mowers and multi-purpose machines, which can be fitted with attachments for cutting, collecting, mulching, scarifying, sweeping, leaf vacuuming and even winter maintenance.

This versatility makes Gianni Ferrari machines particularly suited to:

- professional grounds-maintenance contractors;

- landscaping companies;

- public bodies and municipalities;

- the upkeep of parks and large estates;

- sports facilities;

- farms;

- professionals who need one machine they can use for many jobs all year round.

The aim is to deliver productivity, reliability, comfort and durability, essential qualities when a machine is used every day and must perform consistently even in the toughest working conditions.

Innovation without forgetting reliability

Gianni Ferrari’s history is marked by a constant search for new technical solutions. From four-wheel-drive machines to professional collection systems and the latest electric drives, the brand has kept evolving while staying focused on the real needs of operators.

In 2019, after several years of design, development and testing, the company also set up its own department for professional electric machines. Today the range includes both combustion-engine models for intensive, prolonged use and professional battery-powered solutions designed to be quieter and more efficient.

Gianni Ferrari: Italian professionalism at the service of green spaces

Choosing Gianni Ferrari means relying on a brand with more than seventy years of experience, born in Italy and grown through a constant search for new solutions for professionals.

Technology, robustness, versatility and attention to build quality have made the brand a reference point in professional grounds-care machinery.

A story that began with the ingenuity of Italian engineering in 1952 and continues today, looking ahead to new technologies, electrification and the needs of tomorrow’s professionals.
